Living Hell by Catherine Jinks

Living Hell by Catherine Jinks, in my opinion this was a very enjoyable book. I say this because the author executed every one of the elements in this book perfectly. The surpise, the horror, the imagery, and everything else. Whether or not the characters were walking down the organically transformed hallway or fighting against the terrifying beasts, you were always on the edge of your seatt waiting to find out what happens. One last opinion of mine would be to have this book made into a movie, because I believe it was that good of a book, and to see all the amazement on the big screen would just be great. I would strongly recommend this book to people who are intrested in three things, Sci-Fi, Horror and Adventure. A main part of this book is it taking place in a far away future on a machine like planet, and there is also the actual science in it, such as the mention of chemicals an elements. Horror because you never know what could be directly around the corner in this book, maybe there is a dead body, or a disfigured person, or even a flesh hunger OTV(p.s if you want to know what an OTV is, you'll just have to read the book). There is plenty of adventure as the last group of survivors travel the ship searching for supplies or a way to stop what ever has happened on their planet. Overall, I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5, Catherine Jinks truely made a great book. ~Constantine, Teen Book Reviewer

Picture the Dead by Adele Griffin

I read the book Picture the Dead by Adele Griffin. This book was about a girl named Jenny who was engaged to a rich man named William Pritchett. When Will gets killed somehow in the war, Jenny becomes very upset, and so do Will's parents, whom she is living with at the time. Mr. Pritchett then says he wants to go see a medium. After they went to the medium, Jenny began to see signs, as if Will was trying to reach her. Jenny then ended up falling in love with Will's brother, but when she uncovers the truth about him, things come to a very bad ending. I would recommend this book to anyone in 7th, 8th or 9th grade. It can get a little creepy, so it should be meant for people who won't be bothered by that. This book was a little too predictable, but it was good all the same. ~Alicia, Teen Book Reviewer

The Gardener by S.A. Bodeen

In The Gardener teenage Mason has a disfigured scar across his face from a dog attack when he was young, just five years old. This is when they show him a video of his father. His disfigurement motivates Mason to help people. Perhaps it is to help people understand Mason for who he really is on the inside, instead of the disfigured, abnormal outside. He enjoys biology and sports. When a summer program for Biology shows up, his mom immediately says no. Is it because of hidden secrets she has been locking away from him? When he visits his mom's patients, four teens deep in a coma, he decides to play the very same video to them of his father when, Mason himself was hurt. One of them, Laila awakens and tries to escape with Mason. He helps her, curious as to the reason why she had circular scars on her legs. What exactly happened to her? Read the book and find out. This book is an amazing, page gripping story that keeps you awake through the night. While bringing up simple realistic morals, the book is simply put, amazing. ~Edward, Teen Book Reviewer

Touch by Francine Prose

Touch is a very emotional book about a girl, Maisie, who is violated on the school bus by three of her best guy friends who she realizes later, aren't her best friends at all. As things get tougher in school for Maisie, she realizes she could really use some support from them. Her step-mom wanting to procced in a lawsuit aganist the three boys isn't helping at all and makes Maisie relive the horrific experience over and over again. It is ok for anyone ages 12 and above. The story is suspenseful, makes you wonder what really did happen, and warns the effects that lying can have. It leaves a mark on you long after your done reading the book. I thought it was very good and would recommend it to others.

ReVamped by Lucienne Diver

Fans of the Twilight Saga will rejoice after reading ReVamped by Lucienne Diver. This novel is great for those who like vampire stories. You’ll also like to read this if you’re into action.

The novel takes place during present day. Gina, a teenage girl who was turned into a vampire in “Vamped”, now works for the government. She, her boyfriend, and three other agents are sent to Wappingers Falls, a quaint town in upstate New York, to investigate strange fluctuations in energy. Once there, undercover, they discover a plot of their old vampire enemy and the vampire council to turn the whole town into their feeding grounds.

This novel is humorous, action-packed, and keeps your attention. I greatly enjoyed reading this and would recommend this and any other novel by Lucienne Diver to anyone. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this book a 7 ½. If you like vampires, action, and comedy then this is the book for you.

The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott

The book I read was called The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott. The book was about a girl named Sarah and her best friend Brianna. Brianna was a gorgeous girl who got whatever boy she wanted. The newest boy she was dating was Ryan. A boy she actually really cared for and liked. Sarah also had a crush on Ryan but kept it a secret. On one of their dates Sarah came with them. What do you think happened next? Love and friendship is very complicated. I thought this book was a little dull in the beginning because nothing new was happening except for Ryan and Brianna dating. In the end the book was exciting and interesting because of the turn in events. There was a lot of irony in this book. I would recommend this book to people that enjoy love stories.

The Duff by Kody Keplinger

Bianca, from the novel The Duff by Kody Keplinger, has been problems in her life. Her mother, who is never home, might divorce her dad, who is a recovering alcoholic. She feels as though she is the "duff" in her group of friends, or the "Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend," the weak link. Her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart when she was fourteen is visiting town from his college with his fiancee. The boy she has a massive crush on, Toby, doesn't even know that she exists. Bianca wants a distraction, a way to let out all these emotions so she won't go crazy. So she starts sleeping with Wesley Rush, her high school's womanizer. She doesn't like him at all, she actually despises him, but all she is looking for is a fling and that is exactly what Wesley can provide. But Bianca actually finds out they have more in common then she thought and realizes that she might actually care for him. And what will happen when all the problems she has been running away from catch up with her? Read the book to find out! I would definitely recommend this book to any girl to a girl in middle or high school. I would give this book a 9 out of 10 because it truly is an excellent read for any girl as it explores important issues such as self-esteem, reputations, and many more that are easy to relate too. However, this book contains a lot of mature content so the reader should probably be over the age of 10. So go out and read The Duff!

Hothouse by Chris Lynch

Hothouse is an emotional and unique story about the sharp and oftentimes unexpected change from being admired to being despised. The story is about seventeen-year-old Russell and his best friend D.J., who have shared similar childhoods. Both boys have grown up around the firehouse, because both of their fathers were firemen. Russell shared a special bond with his father, and knew his entire life that he wanted to grow up to be a firefighter just like his father. Unfortunately, both of their fathers died in a tragic accident while fighting a fire in town. Naturally, both the boys were devastated by the loss, but the story focuses more on how Russell copes. Initially, everyone in their town rallies around their families, because the boys’ fathers were regarded as heroes to the community. Everyone’s constant support helped the boys get through the tough situation. However, the story takes a dark turn as the boys’ fathers get turned from heroes to zeros. Some secrets into his father’s actions concerning the accident shed some light on the fact that Russell’s father may not have been such a hero after all. Now, he must deal with the fact that the man he idolized his whole life had a darker side he knew nothing about, and the whole community that once embraced him wants no part of him anymore. The story is an emotional journey and examines the way teenagers handle death and adversity in general. I would recommend this to mature teen readers looking for a powerful, but not too long of a read.

The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy

I read the book The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy. This book was recommended to me by another book reviewer. In the beginning of the story Jess has just had one of the worst days of her life. She gets a secret invite to meet some people at The Grind a smoothie shop. She goes and finds popular cheerleaders want her to join their secret society. Jess soon finds herself caught in a battle of good and evil. Jess and the "Cindys" must fight against the Wickeds. Jess tries to help the Reggies, the people who are neither a Wicked or Cindy. Through all of this Jess findds herself winning the heart of her dream guy Ryan Steele, who is also Lexy one of the head Wickeds brother. But when something from his past comes back, it might just break them up. Jess finds away to help one Reggie and stop Lexy, just for now.

I enjoyed this book because it was a fun read for me. I got lost in it so easily. The story was really good. It had a good message, don't let anyone push you around. My opinion on this book was that it was a fun and incredible story. I couldn't put the book down. I recommend this book to any girl who wants a fun easy read. This book is one of my favorite books and I can't wait for the sequel! It had alot of heart and different emotions. The main character really had to find herself.

Sleepaway Girls by Jen Calonita

In the book I read, Sleepaway Girls, by Jen Calonita, the main character, Sam Montgomery decides to take a break from her best friend, Mal, who gets a boyfriend, and she does not want to hear them being all "lovey" the whole summer. Sam goes for a CIT (counselor-in-training) position in a camp called Whispering Pines, but still promises Mal and a bunch of other friends video-postcards while she is away. What Sam doesn't know, is that her summer will be too jam-packed to do anything else besides the things that are keeping her occupied at camp! From the heartthrobs to the popular girls, how could she have time for anything? Sam is falling for the super-cute, surfer-blond Hunter, and has a rivalry with the camp's queen, Ashley, who just happens to be one of the daughters of the camp director. But at least she has Cole, her best guy-friend, who sides with her on almost everything. All of the drama that happens at the Pines builds up to the fantastic ending. I loved reading this book. It was a real page-turner, and I got so caught up in the book I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves reading about summer camp and all the drama that comes in the same package.
